Community Engagement Program

PSOPP in collaboration with Hamdard Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hamdard University, Islamabad Campus has initiated community engagement program with the purpose of promoting health seeking behavior in schools, colleges and general community that not only contributes in physical development and improved health of students but also spin-off improved awareness about health issues among the parents and local community as well. The components include provision of health services such as BMI, blood glucose, blood pressure, hepatitis B and C screening, clotting time and health awareness to students. The health awareness module is
composed of topics such as appropriate drug use and storage, nutrition and hygiene and public health and first aid.

The first community engagement camp was held on April 30, 2017 at Aisha Lakhani School, Islamabad. Students were screened for various diseases and were educated regarding health issues and appropriate medicine use. Booklets were provided to students. Students also filled questionnaires to assess baseline knowledge. The results of the questionnaires highlighted that the health awareness among school students was satisfactory.

The results of the lab findings revealed that majority of the students were dehydrated.

 

The second community engagement program was held on December 24, 2017 at Rose & Jasmine Garden. More than 100 individuals were screened for various diseases and were provided with counseling.
